“Hmm... I'd say only half of these are creepy.Watership Down comes from an age when people assumed animation was always for kids, but this movie wasn't. It was for adults. It was intentional in its "creepiness" (wrong word, really), since it was made for adults -- or later teens.Lion King - Mufasa's Death was horrifying, indeed. But it was WELL DONE, so it doesn't at all deserve to be called "creepy." Killing him on screen created very deep emotional subtext for the film -- something Disney doesn't usually do -- and probably one of the biggest reasons it was the pinnacle of Disney's 2nd Renaissance.The Hobbit was scary in parts, but intentionally so. It was a very faithful rendering of the book, though far too abbreviated. (I wonder, did the author see Gollum in the LOTR *movies*??)Animal Farm was by Orwell. For kids? Not at all, book or cartoon.The Sourcerer's Apprentice isn't creepy, and is actually the actual story the music "tells." Disney didn't try to change it too much... a mistake they DID make with Hunchback... a book where death reigns strong for our main characters, but somehow they walk away unscathed in the movie. (Bad Idea written all over it.)Pinoccio, I did not like. But here's an important point. Many times, fairy tales were very, very scary -- Pinoccio included. Disney being accurate to this is a *good* thing. And I say this as one who didn't like the story.NOTE TO AUTHOR: Learn a bit more about adult-oriented animated films. Learn more about Fairy Tales.
