You wouldn't assume the average Israeli is insane, do you. Truth is, there will always be an excuse for the Palestinians and their supporters to keep on the terrorist activity. After the withdrawal of Israel from Southern Lebanon and the following UN decision calling for the end of the conflict with Lebanon, Hizballah dug up an excuse to keep attacking Israel, in the form of Shabaa Farms, a negligible territorial dispute that's handled by the UN. It's Syrian if anything. Anyway, they've been using that to continue attacking Israel.As this conflict is not nearing resolution even one bit, Israel would do better to continue controlling the territories and the activities performed there, unless it wants to deal with a much more powerful Hamas in the future. Truth is, if the world really wanted to end this - instead of just wanting to screw Israel - they would have forced an agreement on the Palestinians. They are the weak side, they are the side that loses each and every day from their own actions - someone should have taken the role of a responsible adult and saved them from themselves. But the world is too busy trying to equalize both parties. This will just not work. Israel showed the world terrorism can and will be solved militarily with operation Cast Lead.

I think you misunderstood what he was saying. They couldn't get the EMT's to the wounded until the area was secure for fear they would be put at risk. It was assumed there were multiple shooters.
