Then I need to do a clean install, no upgrade available. While I can spend $29 for the "upgrade" and still do a complete install, I would be breaking the EULA...I'm at least lucky that I can upgrade. My buddy with his three year old G5 tower is stuck with Leopard unless he buys a new machine. |

@tupper,I have a Lian Li case for my Linux machine and my media machine uses a Silverstone case that looks like a home stereo power amplifier. Both cases still require a bunch of cables to connect all of the components. The Mac Pro does not (sans two short PCI-E cables for some video cards). I still haven't seen a Lian Li or Silverstone case that's as elegant as Apple's Mac Pro cases.Sure, some of Apple's advantage is that the motherboard has an integrated SATA/SAS backplane and features a removable tray for the CPUs and memory, but if there's a PC case that's as nice as the Mac Pro's, I'd love to find it and buy a couple..
man that was intense.!

Vaiper:Look at it from an IT person's point of view. For every user that we allow to work from home, the potential security problems that exist on important company data. A home user's endpoint machine is potentially a security hole.Assuming they let our phone support guys work from home, we'd save a whole row in the office. Assuming that we didn't hire extra employees, that space goes wasted--even though we're paying for it. Combine that cost with the cost of now setting up VPN software on the tech's machine in addition to the phone support equipment, and it would actually be more expensive to maintain them remotely than it would to have them come into the office.?
If I was going to have a prank fake funeral I would at least sit in the coffin and jump out halfway through and pretend to be a zombie. |

When I used to shop there I would insist on a factory-sealed copy. They'd always give me grief and say "but it is new", but I'd just say it was for a gift for someone else and I didn't want one with scuffs all over it or the Xbox sticker split. They'd usually oblige.Call me anal, but when I buy something "new" then the right to wreck it is mine, not someone else's. Same reason I don't buy books from Borders. Like Gamestop their stock is always scuffed and trashed and, again like Gamestop, always more expensive. |
