TV is a dying technology, it is going the way of record album and 8 track player. Everything will be on demand in the future. I don't have a problem with media outlets charging for content in an on demand type of system. If they stopped the commercials and put out a much higher quality product, I would pay for it. It would be nice to have a real news outlet that simply didn't promote government propaganda and was at the mercy of its advertising sponsors.!

The way that science is reported now is not quite the same as it used to be. Before, in the 60s-80s, a lot of these research findings weren't available unless you were a researcher in the field. For a scientific advancement to reach the common people, generally it had to be commercialized. With the internet, findings can be published long before any hope of commercialization. And yes, it is frustrating to hear about all the amazing leaps forward that scientists are making only to be told that a viable commercialized product employing those discoveries is a good 15-20 years away.?

I have a off topic question for those who believe in man made climate change. I am going to use Al Gore as my bases for this question. With the technology available today, hd images, instant video communication with any where in the world, why are speakers like Al flying (and in his case in his protected private jet ex VP and all) around the world to make presentations on the negative impact we are having on the world because of our oil consuming ways? If the problem is that serious why not use tele-presence (video and sound on both sides so he can interact with the audience)? Who would argue with him or other speakers putting their money where their mouth is? Or is climate change just a way for people to exploit us, control us, and profit off us? Lets find an inexpensive and clean alternative to oil but not under the guise of an emergency, lets do it for the right reasons to make a better life for ourselves, cheaper energy, more jobs, less smog in cities.
