Thats the problem... The utopian tablet camp want the standard 'keyboard computer' to be replace with touch screens for home users.The artistic camp wants a big tablet Wacom enabled laptop (15-17 incher) with a keyboard because take my photoshop shortcuts from us and we are like birds without wings.

I have a different perspective working for the government. I'd say the most important language you should know is C/C++. Every other language is easier once you mastered pointers/memory management. Having some knowledge about hardware and assembly language is extremely useful.Make sure the company isn't going to over work you. Many companies get undergrads and work them 60+ hours a week because they can. I would talk to someone who is at your level at the company to get an idea what their work/life ratio is.Be familiar with programming in Linux and Windows.Always be prepared to be learning something new. The field moves and you have to move with it or be left behind.?

It seems they are just doing everything possible to get people OFF the pc and onto the consoles, where everything is fully locked down and as someone said above, there is quite a penny to be made on such a environment.
